Green River Community College offers a two-year Associate in Applied Arts Degree program and certificate programs to prepare graduates for employment in a variety of settings with children. This curriculum is also designed to provide meaningful instruction for parents, foster parents, day-care parents, persons working with young children, school aides, and paraeducators.
You may enter Green River’s Early Childhood Education program at any time during the school year on a space-available basis. Classes are offered during the day, evenings, and on the Internet to meet the needs of students currently employed in the field.

The program of study in early childhood education at Bellevue includes a “learning by doing” component. Students are involved in observation, participation and practical experience in a variety of classroom settings. A broad, liberal arts curriculum with emphasis on human relations is also an integral part of the program.
Degree and certificate options available to students in the program include early childhood education, early childhood special education, infant/toddler care, and an Associate in Applied Science-Technical Degree. Specific tracks include infant/toddler for ECE certificates and special education for ECE certificates and AA Degrees. Bellevue also offers a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) in Elementary Education to participating four year Universities.
Bellevue Community College also offers distance learning.

Early Childhood Education offers a variety of short-term certificates and a 90 credit AAS degree. This program focuses on children from birth through age 8 and prepares students to work in Head Start, ECEAP, family Home Child Care, Center Child Care, preschool and school-age care settings. Courses are based upon competencies developed through the Washington State Skill Standards.
Highline offers five areas of specialization that are made to be a continuous pathway from ECE Certificates to the AAS Degree. These are the Childcare Assistant Certificate, Early Childcare Certificate, Family Care Certificate, School-Age Certificate and Infant/Toddler Certificate.
A weekend college hybrid plan has been developed for part-time students seeking an AA Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. This is an online and face to face hybrid program made for the purpose of transferring to a four-year University.

Lake Washington Technical College offers a Child Care Manager Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Child Care Manager Certificate. Students can also choose to take individual courses. Students gain theoretical knowledge through both evening classroom lectures and practical experience in the college lab, in family and center-based programs.
To meet the need of professionals working in the field the lecture component of each course is offered two evenings per week. Students can earn lab credit while working in their place of employment.

Two program options are available for students who are pursuing a certificate or degree. Students may attend a daytime class (considered full time) or take the evening hybrid program (part time). The Evening Hybrid option at Renton Tech. offers students more flexibility by offering classes in a block format, allowing individuals to take as many courses as they are able in a quarter. Students may choose to take one, two or three blocks of classes this quarter. Instructor permission is required. This class has an online component, therefore internet access with current e-mail and Adobe Reader is required. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of core course requirements.
Both Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Applied Science-Transfer degrees are available to students completing additional general education and technical course work. Special Needs and Management tracks are available with all certificate and degree options.

North Seattle Community College offers both certificate and degree options within the Early Childhood Education Program. A unique offering of North Seattle Community College is The Assistant Certificate, earned by completing the four, 2-credit, modules of CCE 160 Connecting to Children. Completion of the Assistant Certificate shows you know how to interact effectively with children.

Seattle Central Community College offers a Child and Family Studies Certificate as part of the offerings under the Social and Human Services program. This certificate program offers courses that meet licensing requirements for child care providers and program supervisors, and Child Development Associate (CDA) Educational clock hour requirements. Seattle Central also offers an AAS Degree in Social and Human Services with an emphasis in Child and Family Services.

The Education Program at SCC offers students several areas of concentration. An Associates of Applied Arts & Sciences Degree or a Certificate of Proficiency may be earned. Education Certificates are available in in-home care provider and child care professional. The AAS Degree is a transfer degree in Elementary Education.
Shoreline also offers an AAAS Degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Early Childhood Educator/Paraeducator and Special Education.
