Gonzaga University’s baccalaureate program in elementary and secondary education provides graduates with the education and training for advanced study and/or initial teaching certification with a primary endorsement in elementary education (kindergarten-8) or secondary education (grades 4-12) by the State of Washington. The Special Education program provides graduates the education and training to work with mildly or moderately handicapped students in an inclusionary kindergarten-12 classroom, a resource room or a self-contained special education class.

The School of Education at Whitworth is widely recognized for preparing teachers, administrators and counselors whose exemplary professional skills are matched only by their commitment to those they serve. The Evening Teacher Certification program, a collaborative effort between the School of Education and Continuing Studies, allows adults who work full time to complete a teacher certification program in an accelerated evening and Saturday format. Students accepted into this program can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with their Washington State teacher certification while those currently holding a college degree can complete the requirements for certification only.
