"Getting Organized: Unionizing Home-Based Child Care Providers" Since Family Child Care Providers are not in traditional employer-employee relationships, there is a trend in our country to unionize these providers.  Unionization includes interests for licensed Family Child Care providers and family, friends, and neighbor care providers who are exempt from regulation but receive public funds.  The objective of this movement is to improve the working conditions and wages for these providers.  The National Women’s Law Center has recently completed this report on how effective unionization has been for child care providers and where unionization has occurred thus far.
