Fact Sheets from CLASP
The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) recently issued two new fact sheets on Head Start and CCDBG participation.
The Head Start fact sheet (available here) reviews the 2005 Program Information Report (PIR) data for all Head Start programs, including preschool, Early Head Start, Migrant and Seasonal Head Start, and American Indian and Alaskan Native programs. While Head Start helped more families access social services in 2005, the number of children served decreased.
The CCDBG fact sheet (available here) provides a snapshot of participation in 2005, noting the great variability in child care assistance programs among states. This fact sheet reviews the ages of children receiving assistance, the types of child care settings used, and the reasons families receive assistance.
